🚨Drones attack Russian military industrial hub 600 miles from Ukraine

LONDON — Russia and Ukraine exchanged large drone attacks on Sunday night into Monday, with UAVs forcing flight restrictions at three Russian airports and prompting reports of an attack on a major military aviation hub. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed to have shot down 30 Ukrainian drones overnight over western Russian regions — 14 over Bryansk region, six over Kaluga region, three over Belgorod region, three over Kursk region, two over Ryazan region, and two over Oryol region. Another drone was shot down over the Republic of Tatarstan, the ministry statement said. The capital of Tatarstan, Kazan, is more than 600 miles from the closest Ukrainian-controlled territory. Russia’s Rosaviatsia federal air transport agency announced temporary restrictions on flights at the Kazan International Airport and Begishevo Airport — both in the Tatarstan region. The restrictions were lifted around four hours later. Kazan International Airport said on Telegram the stoppages were intended “to e...

Historic World War II aircraft hidden in plain sight at regional airfields

It is hard to comprehend just how quick a World War II fighter plane is until it roars over you at just above tree-top level. Tyabb's small aerodrome on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula is home to a Curtis P-40 Kittyhawk. Powered by a Packard V12 engine with double the power of a modern Ferrari, it is capable of 550 kilometres per hour. The 80-year-old plane is more than twice as fast as a garden-variety Cessna light aircraft. In terms of performance and ability, it is outmatched by another Tyabb resident: a P-51 Mustang, a version of the thoroughbred fighter credited with winning the European air war. In the town of Temora, 600 kilometres away in regional New South Wales, sits a pair of perhaps the most famous of all warbirds: the Supermarine Spitfire. 'It's a sense of history' Mr Makowski said the fascination with World War II-era flying machines had diminished little over the 80 years since the conflict's end. "It's a sense of history — being close ...

🚨SpaceX Starship test fails after Texas launch

X's giant Starship rocket has failed, minutes after launch.  The latest test of Space X’s giant Starship rocket has failed, minutes after launch.  Officials at Elon Musk’s company said the upper stage was lost after problems developed after lift-off from Texas on Thursday. But the Super Heavy booster managed to return to its launchpad as planned, prompting an eruption of applause from ground control teams. The mission came hours after the first flight of the Blue Origin New Glenn rocket system, backed by Amazon boss Jeff Bezos. The two tech billionaires both want to dominate the space vehicle market. “Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly during its ascent burn. Teams will continue to review data from today’s flight test to better understand root cause,” SpaceX posted on X. “With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today’s flight will help us improve Starship’s reliability.” Unverified footage shared on social media shows what appears to be t...

🚨SpaceX’s Starship test flight ends in failure after spacecraft is destroyed

Rocket’s six engines appeared to shut down one after another after nearly nine minutes, while booster returned SpaceX launched its Starship rocket on its latest test flight Thursday, but the spacecraft was destroyed following a thrilling booster catch back at the pad. Elon Musk’s company said the spacecraft’s six engines appeared to shut down one by one, with contact lost just 8min 30sec into the flight. “We did lose all communications with the ship – that is essentially telling us we had an anomaly with the upper stage,” SpaceX communications manager Dan Huot said, confirming minutes later that the ship was lost. The spacecraft was supposed to soar across the Gulf of Mexico from Texas on a near loop around the world similar to previous test flights. SpaceX had packed it with 10 dummy satellites for practice at releasing them. It was the first flight of this new and upgraded spacecraft. The SpaceX mishap caused widespread disruptions to air traffic. At Miami international airport...

C-17 Globemaster III

C-17 Globemaster III Mission The C-17 Globemaster III is the most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area. The aircraft can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions and can transport litters and ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuations. The inherent flexibility and performance of the C-17 force improve the ability of the total airlift system to fulfill the worldwide air mobility requirements of the United States. The ultimate measure of airlift effectiveness is the ability to rapidly project and sustain an effective combat force close to a potential battle area. Threats to U.S. interests have changed in recent years, and the size and weight of U.S.-mechanized firepower and equipment have grown in response to improved capabilities of potential adversaries. This trend has significantly increased air m...
