  A small plane crashed in Northeast Philadelphia 30 seconds after it took off as crews respond to a fiery scene, Pennsylvania’s governor said Friday. Gov. Josh Shapiro  said he is offering all “Commonwealth resources as they respond to the small private plane crash in Northeast Philly.” The crash happened less than 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, which primarily serves business jets and charter flights. Photos taken at the crash site appear to show residential homes on fire. Michael Schiavone, 37, was sitting at his home in Mayfair on Friday when he heard a loud bang and his house shook. He said it felt like a mini earthquake and when he checked his home security camera footage, he said it looked like a missile was coming down. “There was a large explosion, so I thought we were under attack for a second,” he said.   A jet with 60 passengers and four crew members  collided with an Army helicopter  while approaching Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C., sending the two aircraft plummeting into the Potomac River and killing everyone on board. The collision occurred at around 9 p.m. Wednesday in one of the world’s most tightly controlled airspaces, just over 3 miles (5 kilometers) south of the White House and U.S. Capitol. An overnight search-and-rescue effort turned into a recovery operation Thursday. The cause is under investigation.

ARLINGTON, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Several of the 60 passengers who were on board  an airplane that collided with a military helicopter  Wednesday night were figure skaters, U.S. Fgure Skating said. The organization released a statement, explaining that athletes, coaches, and family members were on their way home from the National Development Camp held in conjunction with the U.S. Figure Skating Championship in Kansas when the collision happened. Those passengers and others were on American Eagle Flight 5342, which American Airlines said PSA operated. The flight left Wichita Dwight D.   An F-35A fighter jet crashed at Eielson Air Force Base, near Fairbanks, just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday. A news release from the base said the pilot ejected from the aircraft and was not hurt, but that he was taken to Bassett Army Hospital on Fort Wainwright for evaluation. The release said the crash resulted in “significant aircraft damage.” There are two F-35 squadrons based at Eielson, with a total of 54 of the advanced jet fighters. Each F-35A costs just over $82 million. At a news conference at the Eielson’s visitors center, Col. Paul Townsend said the pilot declared an in-flight emergency before ejecting. Townsend said it’s too early to identify the cause of the emergency, but that it would be determined during the crash investigation. 🚨Drones attack Russian military industrial hub 600 miles from Ukraine

  LONDON — Russia and Ukraine exchanged large drone attacks on Sunday night into Monday, with UAVs forcing flight restrictions at three Russian airports and prompting reports of an attack on a major military aviation hub. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed to have shot down 30 Ukrainian drones overnight over western Russian regions — 14 over Bryansk region, six over Kaluga region, three over Belgorod region, three over Kursk region, two over Ryazan region, and two over Oryol region.
